Behind the Design

I’m Jacqueline Hummell, a fourth generation Texan and native Austinite. I approach every project as an artist creating a commissioned work. There are design parameters and goals to meet in every project but I never lose the sense of creating art and delivering a quality product with a designer feel. I instinctively steer away from things that look manufactured or too mainstream unless it’s an intentional part of the aesthetic. The client’s goals and priorities are my north star. I’m not afraid to ask clients to trust me with an idea or color scheme if I know it would fit them. The most rewarding feeling is creating exactly what the client wants in terms of the mood and feeling for a room, but with materials, colors, and pattern that they never would have thought to put together. It’s like watching someone open the perfect gift!

Fun Facts

I grew up in Austin and graduated from Texas State University with a degree in business. In addition to being an interior designer, I’m also an artist (Hummell Art). Plaster is my favorite medium. Thus, I’m highly knowledgeable when it comes to plaster finishes for walls. Occasionally, I like to paint decorative furniture pieces. I run Texas Provincial from my home studio in East Austin with a bit of “help” from my five feline assistants.
